My friends rallied to celebrate my birthday recently. Their planning was genius and we celebrated creatively at Bay View Printing after a separate yoga event. Speechless with gratitude and feeling the love on this particular birthday. I will share more of the creative gestures of kindness soon; but today I am excited to inspire you to try letterpress!
Our gathering was a treasure hunt exploring the vast variety of fonts and typeface options while assembling phrases without a keyboard. The delightful owner, Ashley is keeping ‘letterpress’ alive at this century-old Wisconsin print shop near Milwaukee.
The tactical experience of “writing” without a pen and stringing together actual letters led me to rediscover a classic Spoon song, Written in Reverse.
